Ingredients
- 4 ripe plum tomatoes, diced
- 1 Tablespoon finely chopped green onions
- 1/2 Cup chopped California raisins
- 2 Tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 Pound ground round of beef
- Black pepper; to taste
Procedure
Prepare coals for grilling. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients except ground beef. Set aside. Season beef with pepper. Shape into 8 flat patties. Make a small indentation in center of 4 patties. Divide and spoon 1 tablespoon of salsa into each indentation. Top with remaining patties. Seal sides well. Grill burgers 3 to 4 inches above hot coals until done (160°F at thickest part). Top with remaining salsa and serve plain or on toasted buns.
