Ingredients

  • 1/3 Cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2/3 Cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 Teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 1 Teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon soda
  • 11/2 Cups peeled grated apple
  • 1 Cup California raisins
  • 1/2 Cup chopped nuts

Procedure

Cream together butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Beat in milk and lemon juice. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture just until moistened. Stir in apple, raisins and nuts. Spoon batter into 3 greased 6×3-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350°F, 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Note: Batter may be baked in one 9×5-inch loaf pan. Increase baking time to 1 hour.
