Ingredients

  • 11/4 Cups California raisins
  • 21/2 Cups self-rising flour
  • 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 can (12 ounces) beer (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/4 Cup butter, melted

Procedure

Grease 9x5x2-1/2-inch loaf pan; set aside. Measure raisins into medium mixing bowl; add hot water to cover and set aside till plump. Preheat oven to 350°F.

Add flour, sugar and beer to bowl with raisins; mix together well. (Dough will be a little sticky.) Turn into greased pan, pour melted butter over; bake at 350°F for about 50 to 60 minutes, until pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
