Ingredients

  • 2 Cups flour
  • 2 Teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon mace
  • 1/2 Cup shortening
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 Cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 Cup California raisins
  • 3/4 Cup chopped walnuts

Procedure

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Blend in sifted dry ingredients. Add raisins and walnuts; mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350°F about 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
