Ingredients

  • 11/4 Cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 Cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 Cup cocoa powder
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 Cup butter, melted
  • 1 Cup chunky applesauce
  • 1/4 Cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 Cups California raisins
  • 1/2 Cup mini chocolate chips

Procedure

Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease bottoms of mini muffin cups or line with paper cups; set aside.

Stir together all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, cocoa, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in large bowl. In another bowl, beat butter, applesauce, milk and egg until well blended. Add to dry ingredients and stir until moistened. Stir in raisins and chips. Spoon into muffin cups to about 3/4 full. Bake 20 to 22 minutes at 400°F or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
