First-of-its-Kind Research Shows California Raisins Positively Impact Diabetic Nutrition
Research suggests that raisins may improve glucose levels and systolic blood pressure* amoung people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
“Raisins are excellent food choices for most individuals, including those with T2DM,” says James W. Anderson, MD, professor of medicine and clinical nutrition, emeritus, University of Kentucky.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report the following statistics for 2016;3
- More that 29.1 million Americans have diabetes, and 25% of them don’t know it.
- 86 million Americans are thought to have prediabetes.
- 20% of total health care spending is for people with diagnosed diabetes.
- Without major changes, as many as one in three US adults could have diabetes by 2050.
