California Raisins – The FUNdamental Fruit, a vital part of your diet!
The FUNdamentals – Milk and Dairy Products with California Raisins

California Raisins, Milk and Dairy Products

Research shows that California Raisins might help maintain healthy teeth and gums. Combine them with milk and dairy products to bring a powerhouse of nutrition to your plan for healthy eating. Working with the calcium, phosphorus, potassium and other good things in milk, these sweet little gems can help to make strong bones and teeth, help regulate blood pressure, and prevent colon cancer. So get the summer started right with these tasty combinations during June – National Dairy Month – and all year long.

    Going Strong All Day Long

Kids need lots of energy to get them through their active days. Research, also, shows the California raisins and nuts provide long lasting, slowly digested carbohydrates that keep those summer soccer champions going strong all day long. Mix in a little chocolate and have a glass of lowfat milk with some Sunshine Snack Mix, Double Good Bars, or Our Growers Favorite Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and enjoy the day!

    Recipe of the Month

After the game, refresh and re-energize with Minted Yogurt Soup with Raisins, Walnuts and Chives, a Frothy Yogurt Shake, or a plain Fruit Shake and with yogurt and California Raisins.

Start the day with a breakfast of Dried Fruit and Nut Scones, Bran Muffins with California Raisins, California Raisin-Almond Granola Breakfast Bars, Creamy Raisin Oatmeal, or Creamy Grits with raisins, of course.

Flags, Picnics, Barbecues and Other Good Times

If a backyard barbecue or picnic in the park is on the schedule for Flag Day or any other time this summer, pack a hot casserole full of California Raisin, Caramelized Onion and Blue Cheese Orzo. If you prefer cold, make it one of our great salads like BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad, Smoked Chicken Salad with Raisins, or Italian Chopped Salad. Pack all of these in insulated cases or wrap in several layers of newspaper to keep the hot stuff hot and the cold stuff cold.

Chef of the Month — Paul Wade

For Father’s Day on June 18, our Chef of the Month has a cheese soufflé that can’t be beat for breakfast and two great desserts. The Santa Rosa Andante Nocturne Cow’s Milk Cheese Soufflé makes a knockout breakfast. His Banana Spring Roll with Tazo Chai and California Golden Raisin Ice Cream is so easy the kids could make it (with a little help, that is). All of those and the Mascarpone Cheesecake with Five-Spiced California Golden Raisins simply cannot be refused and all are loaded with the good vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals that come with dairy products and California Raisins.
